We recently went to play in the stream near Oglebay Park. The kids were pretty excited and soaking wet. They were able to throw some rocks and wade in the water. We saw the huge waterfall and we able to get some great pictures. We have been going to this same spot since Sophia was born and it is just a great place for the kids to play. I am sure we will have to go play there again this summer.

Go Green or Go Home
This week we have been going green full force. James has started a compost which I think is really neat. I was definately skeptic at first because I thought it was going to be really smelly. I have been pleasantly surprised because it does not smell at all. We even added some worms to it so I feel like we have more pets now. In addition to the compost, I planted some organic herbs. I started with organic potting soil and then planted some seeds. I also bought some non organic herbs and planted them in some pots just in case the seeds never grow. Last night we took the dogs to the creek to swim and found some old window seat or something that someone just tossed down on the creek bank, it was really neat rustic wood and I was a little angry that someone just tossed it out like that. This morning James went down to the creek and brought it home and he is building a huge planter box for me to plant my organic herbs in. I am secretly thinking about trying to recycle paper, plastic, and aluminum (nowhere in Wheeling recycles glass) but I am not sure where I will put all of those seperate bins. Our kitchen is small. Anyways we are trying our best to help out the environment.

Friends Only
I have never seen 3 little kids enjoy a tent as much as Sophia, Nic, and Fletcher did yesterday. They laughed and wrestled in our tent for about an hour. Nic and Fletcher were so funny. They are so cute together. I don't want to jump the gun but I think Nic has a tiny crush on Sophia. The three of them enjoyed each other so much it was great. And the parents were not having a bad time either. The dogs even got in on the action for a few minutes.
What a Ham
Dress Up Day
Today when I was shopping at TJMaxx I found this awesome tutu. I knew Sophia would love it since she has been pretending to be a ballerina lately. She took one look at the tutu and said, "I wear that Mommy !" She will not take it off. James just took her to Lowes and Cabelas and she is wearing the tutu. I did make her put a white tshirt underneath. Next year when she is 3 she will be able to take a ballet class at the Stiffel Center, I think she will really enjoy it.

Camp Out 2008
James and Sophia are camping out in the backyard tonight. I am so excited to have the King sized bed to myself. Sophia was so excited to camp out, James had a small camp fire going, they inflated the air mattress, and Sophia had all of her dolls out there with her. I think she thinks they are on vacation. I am guessing by 1 am they will both be back in the house. I guess I better get to bed so I can enjoy all the space while it lasts.

Flooded
We experienced our first flood on Friday night. It rained so hard that the sewer could not hold the water and it started backing up into our basement. I was at Ashley's for girls night and James called to let me know that we had about 4 inches of water in our basement. The utility pole across the street had also been struck by lightning and sent huge pieces of wood shooting all over the neighborhood. So Saturday morning James and I swept, mopped, and sanitized the basement. I know it could have been much worse but it was still a huge pain and pretty stinky. I hope we don't have to deal with flooding again for a while.
School School School !!!!
Sophia is going to get to go to preschool next year and she is so excited. I am officially accepted into nursing school and with my busy schedule of classes for next semester James and I decided that Sophia should go to preschool. She will go three days a week all day. Her school is called Peas in a Pod and it is the cutest place I have ever seen. The lady who runs it also used to work at Wheeling Country Day School (the best school on Earth). I was so excited to tell Sophia about school I knew she would be so happy. The first thing she said was that she needed a princess backpack. I am just waiting for the contract to come in the mail and then she will be officially enrolled.....Yeah Sophia !!!!
Bambi
The other day we were swimming at Clark and Louise's pool and Sophia and Colton went to play in the playhouse. All of the sudden we heard horrible screams and Ashley and I jumped up. I thought that the kids had been stung by a bee or something. As it all turns out a baby deer had gotten stuck in the playhouse and could not get out. When Sophia and Colton opened the door and saw the deer they freaked out. The deer was so little it still had spots. I was able to scare the deer out of the playhouse and then cleaned up the mess it had left behind. Sophia informed me that there was a reindeer in there and she was a little shook up. I told her that it was Santa's reindeer just checking up on her. She totally believed it.

The Big 30
James turned 30 today. He is officially an old man. To quote Sophia, " Happy Birthday Old Man!" We had a party on Saturday and it was really fun. All of our friends and some family members we here. We had some adult beverages and some really great food. I was able to have a Miller Lite Beer Bottle cake made for James. All in all everyone had a great time. I am so glad we have so many friends and family members that could stop by and say hi....Sophia was excited to help James blow out candles before the party. We had a special cupcake just for her and James to blow out before bedtime. She keeps telling us her birthday is in one hour. I think she really means one month.

What a Fun Day
Today was a great day, we went swimming with Ashley, Colton, and Kameryn. It was so nice outside and I even jumped off the diving board, only for Sophia's enjoyment. She thought it was really cool. Colton overcame some of his fear of dogs which was awesome. He even petted one of them. WAY TO GO COLTON !!! We are so proud of you. This weekend is going to be a blast. James is turning 30 and he is getting a big party on Saturday night. It seems like there are going to be a decent number of people stopping by. I think I am more excited than he is. His cake is going to be awesome. Check back for pics of it. No pictures with this post, sorry....
Cool in the Pool
Fletcher and Sophia were able to go swimming yesterday. They had a blast. It was Fletchers first dip in the big pool for the summer and he is officially a water bug. He did not mind that the water was chilly, he wanted to swim swim swim. Sophia loves the water and she is really doing well swimming by herself. Pappy Clark and Weezy bought the kids new swimsuits for the summer that are full of foam pads to keep them floating. They are the best swimsuits I have ever seen. After our dip in the pool we ate dinner with Clark and Louise and Louise's mom. It was a nice relaxing evening. We are thinking about going back today for another swim. Thanks Pappy Clark and Weezy for letting us use your awesome pool, we feel like we are on vacation when we are there.
